Decorating with Flowers

As Spring is starting to turn into Summer, the flowers are in full bloom!

I have always LOVED decorating my spaces with flowers! There is something about flowers that make a room look fresh and inviting. I am also SUPER girly when it comes to decor, much to my husbands chagrin! If it were up to me, our entire home would be decorated with flowers! I get away with a few touches here and there. Below you will find my favorite ways to decorate with flowers!

White Flowers

Flowers come in so many beautiful colors, shapes, fragrances, and sizes but my favorites for decoration are bright white flowers! Any white flowers will do. Big or small bouquets, full of fragrance or not. White flowers are bright and make a room look incredibly chic. White also goes with and compliments any color so you know your bouquet will look great in any room of your home. Love pairing greenery with your flower bouquets? Then you will never go wrong with bold white flowers! White and green are one of my favorite color combinations! My favorite white flower to use is a large white hydrangea. Hydrangeas are affordable and durable! As long as you keep the stems well watered they will last you a week or more!

POP of COLOR

A colorful bouquet of flowers can compliment any room! While white flowers are crisp and clean looking, flowers with bright or vibrant colors can also bring a room or table together. Really any color you love is perfect! There are no wrong way to play with color when it comes to decorating with flowers. My advice would be to pick colors that compliment your room or decor color scheme. Easy tip: use a color wheel to find colors that compliment each other! The colors opposite one another are complimentary and will look amazing together!!! Or be a rebel and go with whatever you LOVE!

Silk Flowers

Very few people can afford to keep their home full of real flower arrangements and, in truth, does anyone have the time to constantly be changing out vases each week? I know I definitely do not! I also know that flowers can get really expensive really fast, which is why I love a great silk flower bouquet! Last year, I used silk flowers to decorate a letter “H” for Harper’s bedroom door and I LOVE the way it turned out. You can walk into ANY craft store and buy a bag of silk flower tops and make one yourself! A wooden letter, ribbon, and a glue gun completes the items you would need for this project and voila! A bright, cute, and long lasting way to use flowers in your decor! I also really love silk flower bouquets in bathrooms and up on my fireplace mantel. I encourage you to go check out what your local craft store has to offer before you buy one that is already made. You can save a lot of money if you design your own bouquet versus purchasing one already made. Whether big or small, full of color or monochromatic silk flowers can really liven up your space!

Succulents and Cactus Plants

If you are like me, you have probably thought, “I would LOVE to have some live plants in my home, but I always kill them!”. Outdoor plants I tend to keep alive but as soon as I bring them inside they almost always die a horrible death! If this is also you, the solution is simple, succulents and cacti! Both of these plants are super fashionable and readily available. Best of all, they are really hard to kill! They do not need much watering and can be easily transferred from place to place. They also come in a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes so you can mix and match to create a small indoor garden if you like. I love to use these plants to decorate in my kitchen or on a window sill in the bathroom.

Decorating with flowers should be fun and allows room to be creative. There is really no wrong way to put flowers together or where you place them in your home. Choose flowers that you love, in colors that you love, that have fragrances that you love!

Happy Decorating!
